The story behind Refresh.

I moved into my first flat at 17, and quickly developed a small obsession with wax melts - I loved making my space cosy and fresh.

However, I soon realised two things:

1. I was spending a small fortune

2. I was binning a mountain of plastic.

To try and combat both issues, I decided to try and make my own (thrifty and crafty!).

What started as a simple “let’s give this a go” quickly turned into a full-blown obsession. I spent months researching and experimenting, and yes, my flat smelled fantastic during this time! But, I learnt there's so much more behind the scenes than adding fragrance to wax.

Like all great things, this took time, but I eventually perfected my recipe and learnt how to make strong-smelling, long-lasting fragrances that don't disappoint.

Once the melts were perfected ✨️, I spent a similar length of time developing packaging. I wanted to avoid plastic as much as possible, include fully recyclable materials where I could, and reduce waste.

In 2015, I launched Refresh. And although we've been through some major changes since, we're still the same at our core. We create small-batch, home fragrance for real homes — the kind with busy lives, full laundry baskets and very little spare time.

All Refresh products are:

• 100% vegan (down to the adhesive on our labels)

• Made with sustainably sourced soy wax

• Cruelty-free and never tested on animals

• Packaged using eco-conscious, recyclable materials
